Year 5 Camp 2019 - two amazing days!

Our 80 Year 5 children had an outstanding EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom) over two days.

The children were fully engaged in each of the activities at our Eastern Beach experience run by the Auckland Council.  The activities included archery, outdoor cooking, raft making, paddle skills and kayaking. The staff from AC were enthusiastic and very supportive of our learners.

Vector Wero white water rafting was exceptional. Most children and some adults were pushed out of their comfort zone, however, all emerged buzzing and full of stories. Racing down rapids, dunking the raft into the waterfall to drench the rafters and bobbing solo down the swift stream - so many challenges. Exiting at the end of their journey, the chatter of excitement was deafening and totally exhilarating.

Due to both trips involving water, the organisation and commitment from parents to support the many forms and accompany us was really essential and very much appreciated.

Special thanks to Sharon Knofflock for her attention to detail and for the following up of missing forms and information - she was highly praised by the Wero staff for being the only school ever with complete documentation on arrival.

A special event to see our learners in many different contexts. See our links to our albums - there are some great photos!

  1. Loved visiting you at Eastern Beach. Looked like so much fun. I have never done archery so you are very lucky. The cooking looked yummy too. Unfortunately I didn't get out to see the Vector Wero white water rafting but I hear that it was AMAZING!
